Christian Thanhäuser was born on July 19, 1956. He lives and works as a woodcutter, draftsman, and book illustrator and publisher of contemporary literature in Ottensheim on the Danube, Austria.
For the "Restaurant im Almhof Schneider," Christian Thanhäuser created a woodcut herbarium. For the motifs of the maple panels, Christian Thanhäuser drew inspiration from plants found in the Walser mountain heights, which were traditionally used as food or medicine. His work encompasses the landscapes and mythic figures of the Walser culture, extending to imaginary designs blurring the lines between flora and fauna.
