„I was looking more for a sound, rather than an abstraction. I didn't want to do something that others had already done; I wanted to encounter my world and touch upon questions that are still unresolved for me. I probably also wanted to shape the lost image of mankind, without necessarily positioning it as such." - Bruno Gironcoli
Bruno Gironcoli (1936 - 2010) occupies one of the most influential positions in contemporary Austrian art. His work is an independent, highly personal cosmos that holds a unique place within contemporary artistic creation. Everyday objects mutate into artistic elements that address birth, parenthood, Eros, violence, and sexuality, and in the form of a private mythology, become metaphors for human existence.
